Jo’s Trust Walk for Fun 2013

Jo’s Trust is the only UK charity that focuses on the women and families affected by cervical cancer. They work hard to provide support and information to women of all ages, especially when it comes to highlighting the importance of cervical screening.

All this week, from the 9th to the 15th, Jo’s Trust has been busy raising awareness of cervical screening and highlighting the importance of smear tests. Their website has plenty of ways you can help raise awareness if you want to get involved, from displaying posters to holding events in their name, but on Saturday 15th Jo’s Trust hosts their flagship event: the Walk for Fun.

The Walk for Fun is a nationwide event that recognises and celebrates those who have been affected by cervical cancer. Held every year and attracting huge numbers, the Walk for Fun is a 5K sponsored walk which helps raise funds and awareness. Family and friends of those affected by cervical cancer are all welcome to take part and it’s a great way to socialise, celebrate and remember.

Registration is only £5 but every penny can help them to continue their good work.

Jo’s Trust got in contact with APL Express for help with refreshment bags. It has been known to be sunny in June and Jo’s Trust wants to offer walkers a bag with cereal bars, fruit and water so that they don’t get exhausted. We donated 60 cotton bags printed with their logo which will be on hand throughout the day, if you’re going keep an eye out for them and let us know if they helped you get through the walk!

With research showing that there is a ‘poor uptake’ for women between 25-29 undergoing smear tests (one of the most susceptible age groups), APL Express is proud to help Jo’s Trust raise awareness and promote their worthy cause.

If you are going to one of the walks on Saturday 15th, or the walk in London on the 22nd, we wish you all the best.

Until next time,

Dominic
